Generator Exhaust Insulation Blankets for Marine and Diesel Generators
All Temp Soft Covers, LLC makes custom removable exhaust blankets for generators: marine gensets on fishing vessels, yachts and workboats, and diesel generators on land, including backup, standby and industrial units. Each generator exhaust blanket is built to fit your exhaust pipe, elbows, flex sections and muffler, and it comes off for service without being destroyed. We build every blanket in Blaine, Washington, and ship nationwide, including anywhere in Alaska.
Quick answer: Send photos, measurements and part numbers of your generator exhaust. The owner walks you through measuring by phone or video call, hand in hand. We build the blankets and ship them, ready for your crew, mechanic or contractor to install.
Generator exhaust parts we insulate
-
Exhaust outlet, elbows and risers coming off the generator
-
Exhaust piping and flex sections, including bends and penetrations
-
Mufflers and silencers: removable muffler insulation blankets
-
Turbochargers on turbocharged diesel generators (see marine turbo blankets)
-
Associated piping, valves and flanges (see valve and flange insulation jackets)
We make one blanket or a full set for a generator room.
Why put a blanket on generator exhaust?
Generators often run in tight, enclosed spaces like a lazarette, an engine room or a generator room, and the exhaust is the hottest thing in there.
-
Personnel protection. A blanket helps keep anyone working nearby from getting burned on a hot muffler or pipe.
-
Heat conservation and a cooler space. Heat stays inside the exhaust instead of building up around the generator, wiring and hoses.
-
Noise reduction. Insulation covers help damp exhaust and machinery noise, which matters for a genset running all night at anchor or a standby unit next to a building.
-
Protection from the elements. On outdoor units, a grey silicone outer cloth stands up to rain and freezing weather.
-
Service access. Unlike permanent insulation, a removable cover comes off for inspection and goes back on, and nothing gets cut or thrown away.
Removable generator blankets vs exhaust wrap
Exhaust wrap tape on a generator works until the first service. Then it gets cut off and rewrapped, or just left bare. A custom removable blanket is made for your exact exhaust, fastened with straps and buckles, lacing hooks or hook-and-loop, and reused every time.

How ordering works
-
Send photos and measurements of the exhaust from the generator outlet through the muffler, plus part numbers and the operating temperature if you know them. Pipe size, circumference, cutout centers, and heel and throat measurements on 90° elbows help most.
-
Measure with the owner. The owner walks you through anything that's missing by phone or video call, so every dimension is right. Our measuring guide covers the basics.
-
We build it. Your blankets are made to those measurements in our Blaine shop.
-
We ship it. Anywhere in the U.S., including Alaska. Contact us about international shipping.
-
You install it. We manufacture only and don't do installation. Your crew, mechanic or electrical/mechanical contractor puts the blankets on.
Who orders generator exhaust blankets

Commercial fishing vessels, yachts, tugs and workboats with diesel gensets
-
Boat builders and boatyards
-
Businesses and facilities with diesel backup and standby generators
-
Industrial plants with diesel generators
-

Generator exhaust blanket FAQ
Can you make an exhaust blanket for my boat's generator?
Yes. We build custom removable blankets for marine generator exhaust: the outlet, elbows, exhaust piping and muffler. They're made from your photos, measurements and part numbers.
Do you make muffler insulation blankets?
Yes. We make removable muffler and silencer blankets for generators and marine engines, shaped to the muffler and its inlet and outlet connections.
Will a generator exhaust blanket reduce noise?
Insulation covers help reduce machinery noise as well as heat. How much depends on the setup, so tell us what you're trying to quiet and we'll talk through the build.
What temperature can a generator exhaust blanket take?
Our high-temperature blankets are built with an inner insulation rated 1,000°F continuous (1,200°F max), using a stainless wire mesh hot face, an E-glass needled mat core and a grey silicone cloth outer. The gray outer cloth on its own is rated -40°F to 450°F continuous (500°F max).
Do you install generator blankets?
No. We focus only on manufacturing. Blankets ship ready for your crew, mechanic or contractor to install, and we ship nationwide, including Alaska.
