Custom Marine Turbo Blankets for Diesel Engines and Generators

All Temp Soft Covers, LLC builds custom removable turbo blankets for marine diesel engines and generators on fishing vessels, yachts, tugs, workboats and ships. A turbocharger is one of the hottest parts in the engine room. A blanket made to fit its housing keeps that heat in and keeps crew, hoses and wiring safe. Our turbo blankets come off for inspection and go back on. We build them in Blaine, Washington, and ship them anywhere in the U.S., including Alaska.

Quick answer: Send photos of the turbo from several angles, measurements and the engine or turbo part numbers. The owner walks you through measuring by phone or video call, hand in hand. We build the blanket and ship it, ready for your crew or mechanic to install.

What a marine turbo blanket covers

A turbo has an awkward shape, with a scroll-shaped turbine housing, flanges, an outlet, and oil and coolant lines that have to stay reachable. We build each turbo blanket around that shape:

  • Turbine (hot side) housing, shaped to the scroll

  • Turbo outlet and the exhaust elbow after it

  • Exhaust manifold feeding the turbo (see marine exhaust blankets and lagging)

  • Openings and cutouts for oil lines, coolant lines, sensors and mounting points, placed from your measurements

When we quote, we can make the turbo blanket and the exhaust elbow, riser and manifold blankets as one matched set.

Why insulate a marine turbo?

  • Burn protection for anyone working near a running or just-stopped engine

  • Heat stays out of the engine room, so hoses, belts, wiring and fuel lines are protected

  • A cooler engine room on long days under way

  • Service access: unfasten the blanket, inspect or service the turbo, and fasten it back on

Turbo blanket vs heat shield or wrap

Many turbos come with a rigid heat shield or end up wrapped with exhaust tape. A shield only blocks part of the housing. Tape has to be cut off every time the turbo is serviced. A custom removable turbo blanket covers the housing to your measurements, fastens with straps and buckles, lacing hooks or hook-and-loop, and can be reused after every service.

Specifications

  • High-temperature turbo build: Grey silicone cloth outer, stainless wire mesh hot face, E-glass needled mat core. Inner insulation 1,000°F continuous / 1,200°F max; gray outer cloth 450°F continuous / 500°F max.

  • Insulation core: E-glass needled mat, no chemical binders. Rated 1,000°F continuous, 1,200°F max (inner insulation).

  • Outer cloth on its own: Grey silicone cloth. Gray outer cloth -40°F to 450°F continuous, 500°F max; used over inner insulation rated 1,000°F continuous, 1,200°F max.

  • Fastening: Straps and buckles, lacing hooks or hook-and-loop. Chosen for the part, where it sits and how often it comes off.

  • Fabrication: NCCER-certified fabricators. Made to your measurements.

  • Lead time: Small projects up to 2 weeks; larger projects 3–6 weeks. Depends on complexity.

How ordering works

  1. Send photos and part numbers. Take clear photos of the turbo from the front, back, top and both sides, plus the outlet and any lines that need to stay reachable. Send the engine and turbo part numbers if you have them.

  2. Measure with the owner. By phone or video call, the owner goes through the housing, flanges and every cutout with you, so the blanket fits around everything.

  3. We build it in Blaine.

  4. We ship it anywhere in the United States, including Alaska.

  5. Your crew or mechanic installs it. We manufacture only and don't do installation.

Marine turbo blanket FAQ

Can you make a turbo blanket for a marine diesel engine?

Yes. We build custom removable turbo blankets for marine diesel engines and diesel generators, made from your photos, measurements and part numbers.

Can I still reach the oil and coolant lines with a turbo blanket on?

Yes. We place openings and cutouts for oil lines, coolant lines, sensors and mounting points from your measurements, and the whole blanket comes off for service.

What temperature are your turbo blankets rated for?

Our high-temperature builds are made with an inner insulation rated 1,000°F continuous (1,200°F max), using a stainless wire mesh hot face, an E-glass needled mat core and a grey silicone cloth outer layer. The gray outer cloth itself is rated -40°F to 450°F continuous (500°F max).

How are turbo blankets held on?

With straps and buckles, lacing hooks or hook-and-loop, chosen for where the blanket sits and how often it comes off. Tell us about the engine and turbo and we'll recommend the right closures.

Do you ship turbo blankets to Alaska?

Yes. We ship anywhere in Alaska and across the United States. Small projects take up to 2 weeks and larger projects 3 to 6 weeks.
